Clinical Internship Program
Cassandra loves being a supervisor! Very early in their career, it was clear that running supervision was something they wanted to be part of their work long-term, and it has proven to be something they feel very fulfilled by. This was also a big part of what made them excited to build their own practice.
Cassandra understands that some clients are hesitant to meet with a clinical intern, worried it won't result in as effective treatment. In supervision at Nest, they stay closely engaged with the actual clinical work as it unfolds so both clients and interns feel thoroughly supported. Their approach to supervision is structured but adaptive, rooted in abolitionist principles that center intern growth and client dignity rather than control or hierarchy. They draw from a range of clinical frameworks to think through the work in a more integrated way, so interns can learn to approach cases with flexibility rather than relying on a single model.
What this means for clients working with an intern:
Your therapist receives weekly (sometimes more), in-depth supervision and consultation on their cases, so your clinical care is actively considered from multiple perspectives to ensure thorough treatment
They are trained in anti-oppressive, abolitionist practices, including anti-carceral crisis response and power-aware relational work that centers your autonomy
They are encouraged to advocate for your needs, including pushing back on Cassandra as their supervisor/practice owner if a policy or industry practice is causing you harm
Your therapist is supported in establishing sustainable and evolving burnout prevention and self-care practices
They are given internal and external training opportunities to further strengthen their clinical skills, better supporting you as a client
Cassandra’s supervision program supports interns in becoming independent clinicians who trust their clinical judgment, practice sustainably, and navigate the power of their role with thoughtful attention to systemic context. The program balances reliable support with flexibility, helping interns discover their own clinical identity and the kind of therapist they want to be—even if that differs from Cassandra’s own therapeutic approach—so long as it remains values-driven and centered on meeting clients’ needs within the systems they exist in.
