Do you take insurance?
Yes! Several! Take a look at our fees & insurance page for more info.
What’s the cancellation policy?
Life is unpredictable! We just ask you let us know by 6pm the night before if you need to cancel or reschedule.
If you cancel after this timeframe, you’ll owe a cancellation fee of $75. But! If you’re able to reschedule before your next session, we’ll waive the fee. If you miss the rescheduled session, if even it’s cancelled in time, you’ll be charged the fee.
I’m hesitant to meet with a clinical intern therapist… Will they be just as good?
This is a common concern, it makes sense you want to be sure you can trust your therapist. In contrast from misconceptions about clinical interns, therapists-in-training have a unique ambition and focus that stems from their eagerness to finally do the job they’ve been studying so hard for. Cassandra, the owner of Nest Therapy and lead clinical supervisor, has a strong passion for supervision and has created an internship program that is rooted in the same abolitionist beliefs the practice was founded in. The level of support interns receive means seeing an intern is almost like having two therapists in one! What can I expect during my therapy sessions?
The first few sessions will be your therapist’s opportunity to learn about you, your story, and what brought you to therapy. From there, you’ll collaborate on how you want to be using the space — identifying goals and what it’ll look like to work toward them. These could be specific, like “manage social anxiety” or “learn ADHD skills”, or broad, like “process trauma” or “have a space to talk about relationships”.
Your therapist will guide you from there depending on their approach and your needs! You’ll do things like: gain insight into your patterns, make connections between experiences, deepen your emotional understanding, and strengthen the relationship with your internal world. The relationship you build with your therapist will be an important part of creating the safety you need to show up with vulnerability and honesty.
How often will I be attending sessions?
Therapy is most effective when done weekly! So especially when you’re first starting out, we’ll ask for you to come to sessions every week. Showing up to sessions as consistently as possible helps you work toward your goals and use the space for your needs.
If you’re dealing with something more complex or severe, you might meet more than once a week depending on what you and your therapist decide is right for you. On the other hand, if you’re needing less support or feeling less need for therapy overtime, you might move to every other week or less.
Sometimes, there are temporary or longer term financial restraints that limit how often you can attend sessions. In this case, we’ll collaborate on an approach that works for what’s accessible to you and still helps you get what you want out of the space.
