Find me on:
Hi, I’m Cassandra!
I am the founder, a clinical supervisor, & a therapist at Nest.
I built Nest Therapy after noticing how often clients were doing the work but not getting what they actually needed from therapy. Before becoming a therapist myself, as a Mexican-American, queer, nonbinary, neurodivergent person, I struggled to find a clinician who integrated an understanding of my cultural context into the treatment. Later as a therapist, I saw from the other side how traditional therapy doesn’t always account for the nuances of culture, identity, and evolving real-life impact of the world around us. I also saw the way clinicians are rarely trained to question those gaps in standard practices and adjust their approach meaningfully. Through transparent conversations with clients and like-minded clinicians over several years, I decided to make a practice that actively responded to these issues to give people the therapy they deserve.
At Nest, therapy adjusts and forms to the clients unique lived experiences, not the other way around. It is a space where clients can expect care that feels real and relevant to their lives with therapists they actually connect with. It’s where clinicians are learning to think critically about their work and the systems shaping it.
Foundational values in my approach are transparency and anti-oppressive practices as tools for accountability and access. Practically, this shows up in a number of ways:
Open conversations with clients about things like session fees and the treatment process expectations
An adaptable cancellation policy that balances accountability with real-life circumstances
A process for gender affirming care access that pushes back on gatekeeping
Anti-carceral crisis response protocols
Documentation practices that protect client privacy by including only clinically relevant information without unnecessary disclosure of sensitive identifying details
Navigating power dynamics in the therapy space with care and awareness; showing up as humans, not authorities
Thegoal isn’t just insight, but real, meaningful change that aligns with what people are living through and trying to move toward.
Outside of my clinical work…
You can find me spending time with my silly dog Mabel, practicing different creative hobbies, planning my next tattoo, singing at karaoke, and indulging in my sweet tooth!
I value time with myself as much as time with my loved ones, and I enjoy finding the balance of these :)
